Criteria

Despite poor visibility, Maui's Pink Cap swimmers ventured out into the ocean for a swim this morning. The water was more like soup with all the micro-organisms surrounding us. But our criteria for acceptable visibility is the ability to view the ocean floor, and we were able to see it throughout our swim. As always, it was great getting out into the ocean today.

 

Back on the Trail Again

It felt really good to be walking the beach trail once again. I had been avoiding it because of the big crowds of returning tourists, but the crowds are everywhere now, so what the heck...

And for de-stressing I love sitting on the lanai watching the sun set and the ocean waves roll in.

 

Happy Birthday Kim and Carl

This morning Maui's Pink Cap swimmers joined together to celebrate Kim and Carl's Birthdays. 

We swam clear over on the windward side of the island and encountered lots and lots and lots of green sea turtles.

Shower Time

Among many other things, I'm going to miss shower trees when I move to the mainland in a few months. They are loaded with blossoms all summer long, which they consistently rain down.

 

Happy Birthday to Me

Lucky me! I got to swim in unbelievably clear ocean water this morning to celebrate my 65th birthday. 

Even wearing a rashguard, I managed to get some interesting stings. I'm wondering if the guy in the last photo was one of the guilty parties?

 

Mighty Fine

Plumerias of all varieties are looking mighty fine right now.

And the hazy skies make for some purty sunsets.

 

Early Birthday Swim

Maui's Pink Cap swimmers helped me get my birthday week off to a fun start.

They even managed to coerce me into appearing in a photo or two!

Fleeting Repeating

Banana flowers are beautiful for about one day. After that they just look like small bananas.

I guess sunsets are even more fleeting than banana flowers.

Fortunately, both flowers and sunsets repeat. 

 

Hardiest

Only the hardiest of Maui's Pink Cap swimmers showed up for an ocean adventure this morning. I don't know why, conditions were great.
