Nice Place to Live

Okay, since I'm too busy working to take any recreational photographs, here's - wait for it - a work photo. I do get to photograph lovely places.

Death by S'mores

As you can see from the top photo, many bunny peeps and traditional peeps met their death by fire this past weekend. I think I won by eating the most.

I continue being swamped by work, so it will be a while before most of the long weekend photos get posted. In the meantime, here are two more of the birthday kids.

Arts & Crafts

After the beach we were all assigned various art & craft projects. Fun, fun, fun.

Laid Back

After an aggressive morning swim, the swimmers moved into a more laid back mode today.

Minus Zero

Happy Birthdays (6 for Janet & 7 for Doug) - minus zero, that is.

Fire Dancing

So far since arriving on the island of Lanai we've swum with dolphins, dined on gourmet food, and watched fire dancers playing on the beach.

Perfect . . . Again

Just another perfect Maui morning...

Come Together

I like the way all different kinds of fish hang out together on the reef. I count at least four different kinds of fish in both the top and middle photo.

Of course there's a reason that fish gather in the middle photo - to be cleaned. The tiny Rainbow Wrasse cleans all kinds of fish, even much larger predators.

The Maui Pink Cap Swimmers celebrated our first swim of Spring by catching sight of several tiny Green Sea Turtles.

Which was easy to do in the clear, calm ocean water this morning.

Click HERE for a few more photos from today's swim.

Pass It On

The sand is quickly returning to the beaches. Rocky patches persist, but die hard snorkelers won't let a few stones stand in the way.

I really wish I had stopped to talk to these artists this morning. I'm assuming someone was teaching someone else here, but I really don't know. Next time I will take the time to meet them.

First Day of Spring

 Happy first day of spring!

I actually managed to steal an hour away from work to get in the ocean again - oh, how I've missed being in the water.

Okay, enough goofing off, time to get back to the grindstone...

More to Life

Many, many thanks to the hiking club for getting me up and out of my house today. What a great group of ladies and men.

I am back to being completely slammed with work and posting here is difficult.

Fortunately, today reminded me that there's more to life than work.

A is for . . . Gecko?

These Gold Dust Day Geckos are everywhere, including one which refused to budge from under a Makena "A" this morning. They were sticking their heads out from just about every third rock on our wall this morning.

And the winds have finally slowed down enough to allow families of Stand-Up Paddlers to take to the ocean again this morning.

Ka'apuni March

As part of their 193 mile walk around the island of Maui, native Hawaiians and others were seeking spiritual support for the changes they face.

During a break at Palauea beach, I spoke with a few of the marchers, and got an earful about how much has been taken away from them by rich mainlanders. One of them implied rather strongly that I was one of those people who had stolen from them.

I quietly continued my morning walk and even managed to calm down after only a few miles.

Rainbows Everywhere

Another of the great things about Maui is that we often enjoy rainbows on beautiful, sunny days.

And not just in the sky, either, as this Gold Dust Day Gecko's wide range of colors shows.
