We saw lots of feral felines grooming themselves in the sun along the Appian Way today. That's where we visited ancient christian burials and maybe that's why they were called the cat-a-combs... It sounds like almost as good an explanation as the two entirely different ones we were told today. Every tour guide seems to have their own unique tale to tell and truth sometimes gets in the way of a good story. After all, it is only his-story.
We imagined Roman foot soldiers marching by as we sat under the shade of an olive tree along this ancient Roman road eating the best meal we have had so far. Chariots were bouncing along the cobble stones making a racket and the smell of cypress and wood smoke was in the air. All in all, an excellent day!
