From sunset at Little Beach to sunrise on the 10,000 foot summit of Haleakala, I have been running my cousin, Danny, non-stop. Today we trudged for twelve miles through the crater including a sojourn below ground.
He found the long cave a bit intimidating, but fascinating as well. I thought he handled the bats and giant spiders quite well (just kidding, no critters of any kind in these lava tubes).
The subtle colors, Grand Canyon terrain, and cliff trails remind me of why this was made a National Park. Now I need to devise tomorrow's tortures...
